Because the elevation ranges from 7900 to 9500 feet, our elk migrate from one end of the ranch to the other as the seasons change. The average walk for an elk hunter is no more than 2 miles – though it can sometimes be as short as being dropped off in a haystack. Whether your trip is short or long, our guides are brimming with plenty of entertaining tales to pass the time while waiting for the elusive wapiti to walk into your crosshairs.
The success rate for a hunter at Williams Peak Ranch is a whopping 90%. Take on the beasts with stand or still hunting. Feel the thrill of a hunt on horseback, or jump on an ATV. Walk thru lodge pole pine forests and open meadows, or if you have patience, the animals will often come to you. Since our cattle practices involve co-managing wildlife such as antelope with our domestic cattle herd, the antelope will often be grazing in our pastures during hunting season.
We offer an unusually high availability of licenses – with our 7,500 acres of private land, we’re able to provide land owner vouchers for species like antelope and deer without preference points. Our hunting is guided by experts with First Aid and CPR certification, as well as gun safety training. Most of our hunts are booked by April 1st (Colorado’s draw date) – though we can occasionally accommodate after that time.
While you’re visiting Williams Peak on a hunt, you’ll have many other amenities available to round out your trip – ask us about our enormous fish, feasts catered by a master chef, our happy hour tradition of bonfires, pack trips and sporting clays!
